The client is one of the largest retailer and distributor in mobile devices and accessories with footprints in 575 locations and growing, across the United Arab Emirates, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, UK and India, with more than 2,000 employees.
Their IT Technicians manage several thousands of their assets spread across different locations.

The Challenge

The client faced several challenges in managing these assets.

  • The Asset data at various locations are not integrated with the Asset Management Application. Hence the data available in the application does not reflect the correct status.
  • No off-line capability to work seamlessly in the no-network areas. Hence difficulty in collecting and updating the asset data quickly with the application.

The Solution

Our team, with its proven track record of developing and deploying enterprise mobile applications offered an Asset Management solution to the client, based on its mobile enterprise application platform Mobiliteam™.
The main functionalities of this Asset Management solution are:

  • Scanning of barcodes of the Assets thru mobile
  • Facilitate assets transfer using a Workflow using mobile

The solution is ported on multiple mobile OS to encourage BYOD; and integrated with their existing Web-based Asset Management application.

The Mobiliteam based solution was successfully deployed and is being used by the IT Technicians. Through the mobile application the technicians could search the assets using the inbuilt barcode scanner. The technicians could also perform other tasks like update, transfer and audit of an asset on the go through the mobile.

The Results

The mobile application rollout resulted in

  • Reducing Turnaround Time (TAT) of asset transfer process
  • Enabling information for IT Technicians anytime, anywhere.
  • Technicians could work even in no-network areas as the Mobile app supported offline capabilities
  • Facilitated Mobile Audit process with the inbuilt barcode scanner
